Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse - (Location)
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols within the Labor and Delivery department. The role involves implementing and monitoring patient care plans, assessing maternal and fetal conditions, and coordinating discharge planning. The position requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in a high-stress environment.
Job Details
- Position Description: Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Responsibilities: Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders. Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Unit Description: Labor and Delivery (L&D) nurses provide critical care to expectant mothers and newborns before, during, and immediately after childbirth. They monitor maternal/fetal vital signs, manage pain (including epidurals), assist with vaginal or surgical deliveries, and educate families on postpartum recovery.
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Nursys License, Driver's License/State ID, Ascension Profile, three professional references, and an up-to-date resume.
- Experience: 1 year in Labor and Delivery.
- Start Date: 09/27/2026
- End Date: 12/26/2026
- Additional Information: Traveler will be required to work up to 6 weekend shifts and holidays as needed per department needs.
