Description

Job Summary:
The Medical-Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Sitka, Alaska. The role involves coordinating and providing comprehensive nursing care to patients of all ages, supporting recovery and health maintenance through independent clinical judgment and adherence to established policies and procedures. The position requires flexibility to work both day and night shifts, with the ability to float between medical-surgical, emergency department, intensive care unit, and other units as necessary. The employment start date is expected to be on 09/14/2026.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid, current, full, and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska; high school diploma or equivalent; BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications upon hire. One year of clinical nursing experience preferred; previous experience in medical-surgical units is advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of nursing principles, practices, assessment, planning, and implementation; competency in using medical equipment such as monitors, ventilators, EKG machines, and emergency procedures; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work cooperatively within a healthcare team.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in medical-surgical nursing; proficiency in emergency procedures and advanced patient care techniques.
  • Additional Information: The position supports patient care across the multidisciplinary team, emphasizing safety, infection control, patient education, and psychosocial support. The nurse may be required to develop individualized care plans, evaluate patient responses, and assist in staff training and orientation.
