Description

Job Summary:
Psychiatric Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Portland, Oregon. This acute care role involves providing mental health services on a 33-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. The RN will work primarily during evenings, float between units as needed, and deliver hands-on patient care in a high-acuity environment, adhering to all safety protocols and behavioral management techniques.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Evenings shift with minimum of 40 hours per week, 8 hours per shift
  • Required Qualifications: 1 year of behavioral health inpatient acute care experience, current BLS certification, valid license in the state of Oregon, ability to work a flexible schedule including one weekend every two weeks, and a vehicle for transportation. Additional requirements include CPR training, completion of PMAB (Psychiatric Management and Behavioral Assessment) prior to starting, and comfort with seclusion, restraints, and milieu management.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the EPIC charting system, trauma level certification, and community hospital experience
  • Float: Float rotation may be required across different units and facilities within the organization based on patient care needs
  • Additional Information: The position involves managing full spectrum psychiatric diagnoses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, depression, and anxiety disorders. Staff will work within a structured adult-only psychiatric environment, treating patients admitted through emergency departments across Oregon. Proper training in physical restraint procedures and behavior management techniques is essential. The unit is equipped with specialized restraint devices, seclusion rooms, and emergency equipment. Candidates must be physically capable of performing hands-on interventions in high-risk situations, following strict protocols.
