Description

Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurse position in Spokane, Washington. This role involves providing specialized care for cardiovascular and acutely ill patients in a busy hospital setting. The nurse will operate within a Level 3 Trauma Center, supporting a variety of diagnoses including cardiac conditions, post-operative care, and telemetry monitoring.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Days shift from 07:00 to 19:30, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. The schedule cycle is set in 6-week periods and may be adjusted to accommodate preferences, with schedule details provided two weeks prior to each cycle.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid licensure/certification including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Candidates must possess at least 2 years of strong cardiac or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience and be able to care for cardiovascular patients, interpret rhythms, and manage epidurals and chest tubes.
  • Support within the Department: CNA support (2-4 per shift), free floating charge nurse, flex nurse (07:00-19:30), hospitalist, RT, and cardiologist on-call availability.
  • Additional Information:
    • The unit cares for acuity-adaptable patients with a typical patient ratio of 1:3-4.
    • First-time travelers are accepted.
    • Technology used includes EMR with EPIC, IV pumps (Alaris), Pyxis medication dispensing, and Philips monitors (portable and bedside).
    • Traveling nurses are the first to float to Med/Surg units and Intensive Care Units to cover overflow assignments.
    • Scrub attire should be any solid, professional color without graphics or logos.
    • Parking options include free parking through Town Park or paid parking in the parking garage.
