Description

Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Soldotna, Alaska. This highly specialized role involves managing individualized, goal-directed nursing care within the labor and delivery unit. The position requires clinical expertise in obstetric care, utilizing advanced monitoring and patient management skills to support maternal and neonatal health during hospital stays.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts; on call as needed; minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Active Alaska state Registered Nurse (RN) license; minimum of 2 years recent Labor and Delivery (LDRP) experience; certifications including Advanced Fetal Monitoring, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), BLS Certification, and STABLE; COVID vaccination required
  • Specific Duties and Equipment: Manages individualized labor and postpartum nursing care following departmental and hospital policies; utilizes Meditech, OBIX, Pyxis Supply Stations, bedside fetal monitor. Responsibilities include managing different types of procedures related to obstetric care and supporting neonatal stabilization.
  • Unit Details: 4 Labor, Delivery, Postpartum (LDRP) beds and 5 Nursery/Postpartum beds; nurse to patient ratio aligns with national standards based on labor and patient needs.
  • Orientation and Training: 3-day Meditech and OBIX training, followed by unit-specific orientation; RN required to complete medication testing on-site within the first two weeks.
  • Additional Notes: Unit allows local placements; may call off up to 24 hours in a 13-week contract without penalty; floating to other units/departments may be required.
