Description

Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) specialized in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for a full-time position in Portland, Maine. This role involves providing pre-operative and post-operative nursing care within a busy perioperative department. The ideal candidate will have recent PACU experience, including ICU and trauma level 1 background, and be capable of managing complex patients undergoing cardiac, vascular, robotic TAVR, and pediatric procedures.

Job Details:

  • Position: RN - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Location: Portland, Maine
  • Schedule: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Start Date: 09/07/2026
  • Shift Hours: 12 hours per shift
  • Openings: 1 position
  • Required Qualifications:
    • 3 years of PACU experience with recent years in ICU and trauma level 1 settings
    • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
    • Ability to read telemedicine strips, manage cardiac drips, IVs, and tele monitoring
    • Experience with pre and post procedures including TEE, CV, CATH, and EP - Experience with trauma care, groin management, and electronic fetal monitoring (EFM)
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with Vascular, Robotic TAVR, Pediatric CATHs, and Cardioversion procedures
    • Excellent communication skills, team-oriented, flexible, with a can-do attitude
    • Willing to float to Bramhall PACU, IMC, or ICU as needed
  • Additional Information:
    • Candidate must be able to float as needed to other units within the organization.
    • Weekend call is required every other weekend.
    • The unit has 40 pre/post-operative beds, 9 overnight bays, and handles up to 3-4 patients during phase 1 care.
    • Equipment used includes IV pumps, PCAS, epidurals, arterial lines, tele monitoring, and TEE/CV equipment.
    • Uniform dress code allows any scrub color; artificial nails and cell phone use are prohibited.
    • The position is a replacement for a permanent staff member.
