Description

Job Summary:
The ICU (Intensive Care Unit) registered nurse position is located in Omaha, Nebraska. This fast-paced unit cares for critically ill adult and pediatric patients, including trauma, sepsis, stroke, and respiratory conditions. The role involves managing complex patient needs with a focus on critical thinking, teamwork, and positive attitude in a 12-hour night shift setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support) certifications, NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification, drivers license, and certification or experience with adult and pediatric trauma patients.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trauma patients, ventilator management (including vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow), and ability to interpret cardiac telemetry.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required, with all over to inpatient units excluding Maternity/NICU.
  • Additional Information:
    • Unit handles adults and children over 15 years old with various trauma injuries, stroke, ARDS, MODS, COPD, and cardiac events.
    • RNs are required to titrate drips such as vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, and sedation medications.
    • Equipment includes vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc., with RNs troubleshooting as needed.
    • RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips, using Draeger centrally monitored telemetry systems.
    • The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-2 for ICU and 1:4 for PCU, with charge nurses assigned each shift.
    • Self-scheduling is allowed with managed shifts from 0630-1830 and 1830-0630.
    • Four weekend shifts per six-week schedule are required, with mandatory upfront RTO (Request for Time Off) of 7 days or less per 13-week contract.
    • Dress code: Navy Blue scrubs.
    • Orientation includes two unit-specific shifts.
    • This is a trauma level 1 acute care setting with epic charting system.
