Description

Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a healthcare facility in Minneapolis, MN. This position involves providing specialized care for ECMO patients, demonstrating extensive knowledge of ECMO therapy and related mechanical support devices. The role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and optimal circuit functioning.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Active RN license; minimum of 1 year of experience caring for ECMO patients; training and demonstrated working knowledge of ECMO therapy, CRRT, and Phase One Cardiac Surgery Recovery; associates or bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited program; all qualifications must be current and valid.
  • Duties and Responsibilities: Assist physicians and clinical staff with initiation, maintenance, and discontinuation of ECMO therapy. Manage other mechanical support devices such as Impella, IABP, VADs, and handle up to three circuits simultaneously. Conduct detailed assessments of ECMO circuits to ensure safety, monitor laboratory values affecting circuit performance, and respond promptly to emergent issues. Complete all documentation and participate in quality improvement and research activities related to ECMO. Ensure compliance with mandatory ECMO competency trainings and participate in monthly multidisciplinary conferences.
