Description
Job Summary:
Pediatric Psychology (Psychiatry) opportunity located in Bangor, ME. This role involves providing specialized mental health care to pediatric patients aged 5-18 years old, including those with diagnoses such as eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria. The position requires flexibility to float between pediatric and adult units as needed, supporting a diverse patient population in a secure inpatient setting.
Job Details:
- Shift Schedule: Evenings, 8-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 09/28/2026.
- Required Qualifications: One year of Behavioral Health nursing experience, pediatric behavioral health experience preferred. Valid Maine State License required. Certifications include BLS.
- Additional Information: The facility is a 94-bed free-standing acute inpatient unit with 50 pediatrics and 44 adult beds. Patients are typically medically cleared from the emergency department and do not usually have lines, drains, or tubes. The unit employs a multidisciplinary team, including Psych Technicians, Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, and security staff. Support staff and resources are available on-site, and the environment emphasizes de-escalation and trauma-informed care. The role may involve acting as a charge nurse and floating across units. Candidates must be willing to work holidays in rotation and participate in scenario-based training, including de-escalation. Scrub color is flexible as long as it is a solid, professional-looking color. Free parking is available, and heavy winter snow conditions are expected.
