Description

Job Summary:
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) registered nurse position is based in Oakland, California. This role involves providing specialized care for critically ill pediatric patients within a Level 1 trauma center with a focus on neuro and cardiac cases. The position requires adaptability to float between facilities as needed and adherence to all clinical and operational standards.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 09/01/2026
  • Required Qualifications: California registered nurse license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification, 5 years of experience, pediatric intensive care unit experience, charting experience in Epic, BSN degree, ability to float to other UCSF facilities as needed
  • Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric cardiovascular intensive care unit experience, trauma level I experience, trauma level II experience, child and adolescent patient care experience, community hospital experience, previous charge experience, two references from most recent employer required
  • Additional Information:
    • Ability to float to other facilities within a 75+ mile radius may be required at any time during the assignment.
    • The unit is a Level 1 trauma center specializing in neuro and cardiac cases with a patient census of pediatric, adolescent, infant, and neonatal patients.
    • Must have completed necessary modules relevant to the position prior to start date.
    • Travel pairing may be allowed, but generally not on the same unit.
    • Orientations are scheduled prior to start; start date is 09/01/2026.
