Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) in Charleston, West Virginia. This position involves delivering high-quality patient care by following established nursing care plans, supervising support staff, and ensuring patient safety. The RN will be an integral part of the healthcare team, focusing on patient assessment, education, and discharge planning.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/24/2026
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift. Valid ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift (if applicable). A minimum of two (2) years bedside clinical experience.
• Demonstrates competencies necessary for the designated patient population in accordance with established standards.
• Performs comprehensive nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission to develop individualized care plans.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to identify educational needs and goals.
• Ensures accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record, following organizational policies.
• Participates actively in patient rehabilitation programs and provides direct patient care, prioritizing patient education and safety.
• Initiates discharge planning from the day of admission and begins patient teaching to prepare for discharge.
• Communicates effectively regarding patient status changes to support continuity and safety of care.
• Provides direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, delegating appropriately, while utilizing problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Maintains personal and environmental safety in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Contributes to a positive work environment through calm direction, reassurance, and team-building activities.
• Communicates with management regarding supplies, equipment needs, and training requirements.
• Assumes charge responsibility following orientation as requested.
• Pursues professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
• Prioritizes activities effectively to meet patient needs and optimize staff utilization.
• Performs additional duties as required.
