Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse position is located in Hilo, Hawaii. This role involves caring for patients during postoperative recovery, including phases I and II, with a focus on assessing incision sites, monitoring body temperature, and tracking indicators of stability or complications. Candidates must demonstrate critical care skills and have previous experience in surgical or critical care nursing to succeed in this fast-paced clinical environment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Hilo, Hawaii
  • Position: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU)
  • Shift Schedule: Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays across ASU and PACU units.
  • Schedule: Rotating shifts; 8 hours per shift with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid professional license within the state of practice; 2+ years of experience as a critical care registered nurse (such as ER & ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute; current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association; Hawaii state licensure required upon acceptance of the offer; proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start; must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential from the American Heart Association (may be required for certain positions); additional certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred and may be required for specific roles.
  • Additional Information: Candidate must have Hawaii licensure by the start of the assignment. No guarantee of hours or shift preference; on-call shifts 0-3 times per month, including night and weekend/holiday coverage.
