Description

Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical (MS) Specialty Nurse position is located in Tyler, Texas. This role involves providing care on a Medical-Surgical Floor with telemetry capabilities, catering to a diverse patient population ranging from young adults to geriatrics. The position offers an opportunity to work on a busy unit with a focus on patient-centered care and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Job Details:

  • Position: Medical Surgical (MS) Nurse
  • Location: Tyler, Texas
  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Start Date: 08/25/2026
  • Required Qualifications: - Certifications in BLS and NIHSS 2 years of relevant experience State or Compact license in hand at time of submittal Must complete core onboarding items/labs within 48 hours of contract signing Experience with Epic (experience required) Previous charge experience Experience with patient ratios of 1:6 Knowledge and skills in managing Ports, blood product administration, central line blood draws, colostomy/ileostomy care, cerebrovascular accident (CVA) management, feeding tube care, Heparin, Insulin, dysrhythmia interpretation, infection control (Isolation Precautions/PPE), medication administration, telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote), PICC line management, IV starts and management, wound care, and rapid response team protocols.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Travel experience preferred.
  • Additional Information:
    • Unit is a Medical-Surgical / Telemetry unit with 18 private rooms and 1 semi-private room for a maximum census of 20 patients.
    • Patient population includes young adults through geriatrics with a broad range of care needs.
    • Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary.
    • Travel eligibility excludes residents of specified counties in Texas.
    • Onboarding includes completing core items and labs within 48 hours of the contract start date, with onsite modules during orientation lasting approximately 4-6 hours.
