Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a unit specializing in urology and nephrology in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care on a busy 25-bed unit, with a focus on patients recovering from urological and nephrological procedures, including kidney transplants and complex bladder surgeries. The position requires a dedicated RN with strong skills in telemetry, renal management, and emergency response, working day shifts to support patient care needs.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Day shift from 0645 to 1915, 36 hours per week, start date 08/31/2026
• Required Qualifications: Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license active and in hand; at least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience with solid foundation in RN practice; BLS certification; experience with telemetry/remote monitoring, post-hemodialysis management, and renal failure; proficiency in IV therapy, blood product administration, and use of Cerner charting system; experience with adult patient care in an acute care hospital setting.
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I experience; prior community hospital experience; familiarity with kidney transplant care and urology/nephrology procedures.
• Additional Information:
  • Willing to float within scope to medical-surgical units to meet facility needs.
  • May work every other weekend; floated within scope to other medical-surgical units; flexible with block scheduling but not guaranteed.
  • No on-call requirement.
  • RTO restrictions: ideally no more than 5 days.
  • Special procedures include continuous bladder irrigation, urinary catheter management, chest tubes, JP drains, nephrostomy tubes, and ileal conduits.
  • The unit discharges and re-admits about a third to half of the floor daily, with occasionally up to 7 patients.
  • Candidate must be compliant with all licensing, background check, and credentialing processes prior to start, including completing required modules and virtual orientation.
