Job Summary
Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician, ORT Located in a healthcare facility, this position involves assisting in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients, maintaining sterile environments, and supporting surgical teams during procedures. The role requires technical competence in scrubbing across multiple specialist areas and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.

Job Details

  • Certifications, Education, Years of Experience, and Location Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program required. BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required. Certified Surgical Technologist or LVN/LPN license required. Two or more years of experience preferred.
  • Schedule: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, full-time, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Perform a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients.
    • Prepare patients' skin for surgery in accordance with standards, maintain aseptic techniques, and actively monitor for breaches.
    • Provide comfort and privacy for pre-operative patients, transport patients to and from the operating suite, and position them appropriately.
    • Identify and care for biological specimens, set up the operating room with instruments and supplies based on case type.
    • Work proficiently in scrub roles across specialties including transplants, open heart, urology, neurology, robotics, among others.
    • Maintain sterile fields, pass instruments, suture, and assist as directed by the physician.
    • Ensure all surgical supplies and instruments are processed, maintained, and utilized according to policy.
    • Follow universal barrier precautions, correct traffic and sanitation policies, and maintain a safe environment.
    • Adapt patient assessment, treatment, and care to meet population-specific and developmental needs.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
