Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse position available in Des Moines, Iowa. This role involves providing specialized surgical nursing care in a busy, Level I trauma center's operating rooms. The position includes working across multiple service lines including cardiac, neuro, orthopedics, robotics, gynecology, urology, transplants, and general surgery, with a focus on trauma cases and robotic procedures.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of current operating room experience in a hospital or medical center setting
  • Circulating or scrub experience required; scrub experience highly preferred
  • Experience in cases such as General, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, Trauma, Neurology, Orthopedics (primarily trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, and Vascular
  • EPIC electronic medical records experience within the previous three years required
  • Trauma Level I experience highly preferred; Level II experience required
  • Iowa licensed or licensed via Multistate Compact at the time of submission
  • Active American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • No first-time travelers; candidates must have completed a previous travel assignment within the past nine months
• Additional Information:
  • Open to candidates who can float across multiple campuses including Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran Medical Center
  • Orientation scheduled for 09/14/2026 and 09/21/2026
  • Willingness to work 1-2 of the upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
  • Call schedule includes one overnight shift per week and three weekends per 13-week contract period
  • No specific minimum experience beyond the required clinical hours; a minimum of 2 years of OR experience is preferred
  • Must be proficient in scrub or circulating roles; experience with Trauma, Pediatrics, and Robotics is highly valued
