Description

Job Summary:
Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Nurse, Duluth, MN. This role involves providing care to complex medical patients in a 22-bed IMC unit. The position requires managing patient needs such as neuro assessments, wound care, IV starts, and antibiotic therapy, with an emphasis on teamwork and resilience. The assignment is a 13-week contract with rotating shifts, starting as soon as possible.

Job Details:

  • Shift: 12-hour variable shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) License, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from AHA or ARC, National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an IMC setting, specifically with complex medical patients such as those with ETOH, CVA, Sepsis; wound care, wound vac, antibiotic therapy, neuro assessments, restraints, collaborative skills, and the ability to manage independently.
  • Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts, minimum 36 hours weekly, with holidays as assigned.
  • Additional Information:
    • The unit has 22 beds with patient ratios of 1:4/5 during the day and 1:5/6 at night.
    • Candidates with demonstrated contract experience in colder climates are preferred to ensure reliability through weather events.
    • The role may include managing medical patients awaiting beds, and occasionally acting as help or sitters.
    • Scrub color is royal blue.
    • GSA hours are not guaranteed during the week of orientation.
    • The assignment may involve low census periods with unbillable hours guaranteed at 36 hours per week, excluding holidays when the unit is closed.
    • The position requires flexibility to adapt to operational needs and weather disruptions.
