Description
Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Department position located in Tacoma, Washington. This role involves providing high-acuity obstetric care within a Level II trauma center and a comprehensive maternal-fetal unit. The position requires managing a variety of obstetric cases, supporting full-spectrum prenatal and postnatal care, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 10 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. The rotation includes every other weekend, with no mandatory call requirements. Flexibility for additional shifts as needed.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitor (AWHONN) certifications. Experience in labor management and delivery of obstetric patients, ability to triage OB patients, circulate in the operating room, perform cervical checks, and interpret fetal monitoring strips. Charge Nurse experience is required for the Advanced Nurse Midwife role, along with strong interpersonal and educational skills. EPIC experience is essential.
- Preferred Qualifications: Time as a Charge Nurse, experience with high-risk obstetric cases, and proficiency with the hospital's EMR systems.
- Other Job Responsibilities: Assist with laboring and postpartum patients, manage high-acuity OB cases, support neonatal assessments post-birth, and participate in patient education and staff rounding. The team includes CNAs, scrub techs, RTs, and other clinical staff. Orientation includes hospital and unit-specific training, with a traditional orientation style and 6 shifts paired with a Charge Nurse.
- Floater: Floating to Antepartum, Postpartum, and additional units may be required within scope and experience.
- Technology/Equipment: Utilization of EPIC electronic medical record, IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, fetal surveillance monitors, epidural pumps, Panda warmers, and compression devices.
