Description

Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Nursing position is located in Kearney, Nebraska. This role involves providing high-acuity critical care to adult patients with complex medical conditions, including trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. The position requires adherence to clinical protocols in a 33-bed unit and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, from 06:30 to 18:30 and 18:30 to 06:30, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Self-scheduling is available for core staff, with restrictions on block scheduling and same-schedule duo placements.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid state license to practice, BLS certification, ACLS certification, NIHSS certification, a minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: N/A
  • Float: Float rotation may be required, typically to Progressive Care Units or Medical-Surgical units, maintaining patient ratios of 1:4 or 1:5.
  • Additional Information:
    • Department utilizes GE monitors; RNs must read, interpret, and document strips.
    • RNs are required to titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation.
    • RNs troubleshoot nasal cannula to vent equipment.
      -Staffing includes nurse aides and healthcare support technicians, based on census needs.
    • Must complete one shift of unit-specific orientation prior to assignment.
    • RTO requests of 7 days or less are approved upfront; additional RTO requests are not permitted.
    • Employee must have a drivers license, and candidates cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization, including any affiliated hospitals.
    • Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas; a pass/fail exam on skills is held during orientation.
    • The role requires working every other weekend and minimum of 2 holidays within the contract period.
    • Due to safety policies, block scheduling is limited mostly to weekends only.
