Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position in Kansas City, Missouri. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care on a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, with a focus on post-operative orthopedic and trauma patients, as well as neuro overflow cases. The position offers a dynamic environment with opportunities to utilize advanced skills and new equipment.

Job Details:

• Shift Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS certification, 3 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing, orthopedic experience, and NIH knowledge preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Advanced skills in orthopedic care, telemetry, NIH procedures, Neuro overflow experience.
• Float: Float rotation may be required to other MedSurg level of care units (General Medical-Surgical, Nephrology, Neuro/Trauma).
• Additional Information:
  • Unit specifics include 23 beds with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5
  • Staff includes unit secretaries and PCTs, with traction, fixators, and cooling equipment available
  • Documentation system utilized is Meditech
  • Scheduling includes three 12-hour shifts and three weekend shifts per schedule period
  • Bedside shift reporting and hourly rounding are standard practices on the unit
  • Certification in trauma, stroke, or related fields is highly valued; uniforms are navy scrubs
  • The unit values experienced staff with tenure, and may highlight new technology, equipment, or awards to attract applicants
