Description
Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) position in Santa Cruz, California. This role involves providing specialized care in a community hospital's Level 3 NICU setting. The unit supports critically ill neonates, including preemies, late preterm infants, and other neonatal conditions, with a focus on patient safety and clinical excellence.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift; starting at 7:00 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); valid license to submit; minimum of 2 years of relevant neonatal intensive care experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: None listed.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information:
- Unit features 14 Level 3 community beds.
- EMR system in use is Cerner.
- Charge nurse available on site.
- No nurse aides or neonate lab team.
- Work in conjunction with hospitalist or intensivist; have a neonatologist or pediatrician on call 24/7.
- RT (Respiratory Therapy) runs vents 24/7; pharmacy available around the clock.
- No specific floor orientation noted, with 3 shifts on the unit before full responsibilities.
- Common diagnoses include sepsis evaluation, preemie, late preterm, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), with no surgical cases.
- Unit operates from August 17, 2026.
