Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Orange, California. This role involves caring for patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods in a highly regarded acute care facility with magnet designation. The position offers a night shift schedule and opportunities to work with a dedicated team providing specialized maternal and neonatal care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid California nursing license, BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), minimum 1 year of experience in labor and delivery, experience with patient ratios of 4:1, charting experience using Epic software
- Certifications: BLS, NRP
- Skills: Postpartum care, discharge teaching to parents, infant identification, newborn assessment, phototherapy, thermoregulation, neonatal hypoglycemia, post-epidural management, opioid use, pain assessment and management, PCA (patient-controlled analgesia), Foley catheter insertion, breastfeeding instructions, episiotomy/incision care, fundus/lochia/perineum care, breast pump use, vaginal delivery, cesarean section, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Unit Details:
- Patient age groups: Newborns and postpartum mothers
- Daily census: 25 patients
- Number of rooms: 32
- Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory, interpretation, phlebotomy, social services, rapid response, pharmacy, and unit secretaries
- Patient diagnoses primarily include healthy vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Special procedures include male newborn circumcision upon parent request
- Special equipment: Triton blood loss measurement device
- Additional Information:
- Must be willing to float between units as needed
- RTO (Return To Office) restrictions apply; including at least 7 days for Aya offer and client approval
- Candidates must have a valid California license in hand and a fire safety card within the last 30 days
- References required: Two references covering at least 1 year within the last 3 years
- Travelers are expected to float within all facilities in the state; refusal to float may affect employment terms
- Responsible for completing self-reported modules, approximately 16 hours, annually
- Orientation hours: 12 hours
