Description

Job Summary:
An Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Neurological registered nurse (RN) is needed at a healthcare organization located in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized critical care to adult patients with neurodiagnoses such as stroke, cerebral hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, and post-surgical neurosurgical patients. The position offers a full-time night shift opportunity on an 18-bed comprehensive stroke center certified ICU.

Job Details:

  • Location: 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: WI or compact RN license, at least 2 years of inpatient acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in critical care settings, Basic Arrhythmia experience, ability to pass telemetry test prior to start
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS
  • Skills: Accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, chest tube procedures, ventilator management, ICP monitoring, external ventricular drain (EVD) care, neuro-specific interventions, telemetric rhythm interpretation, and emergency medication administration
  • Additional Qualifications: Experience with neurocritical care procedures such as intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, lumbar drains, and hypothermia protocols; pass/fail telemetry testing with strict criteria involves two attempts; must meet specified scoring standards in adult and pediatric cardiac interpretation exams
  • Special Procedures/Unit Details: Provide intensive neurological care for critically ill adult patients with neurodiagnoses including stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, post-thrombectomy, neurosurgery, and trauma. Ability to float as needed.
  • Travel Requirements: Yes, travel experience required. Candidates must have basic arrhythmia experience and pass telemetry testing before start.
  • Additional Information: The unit supports interdisciplinary teams including respiratory services, radiology, social services, pharmacists, and rapid response teams. The organization is ranked Wisconsins #1 hospital and is a Magnet-designated facility.
