Description

Job Summary:
Critical Care Registered Nurse specializing in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is sought for a night shift position in a Level I Trauma Center located in Saint Louis, Missouri. This role involves the recovery and care of a diverse surgical patient population, including trauma, neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, and transplant cases. The position emphasizes high-acuity inpatient care with experience in invasive monitoring, airway management, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications: BLS, ACLS. Education: Current license applicable to Missouri or a compact state. Experience: 2 years in high-acuity inpatient PACU or ICU, with specific skills including invasive monitoring (including ICP), blood product administration, ventilator management, and working within a Level I trauma center.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Past experience with neuro, spine, or trauma patients; Epic charting system expertise; trauma level I experience.
  • Float: Float to PACU or Pre-Operative units only, within scope.
  • Additional Information:
    • Shift involves pre-op assessment for first cases from 0530-0730.
    • Night shift personnel will manage complex post-operative patients requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring, and transfusions.
    • Open 24/7 with 38 patient bays.
    • Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatrics.
    • Night nurses are expected to learn working up pre-op patients.
    • The role requires high acuity critical care experience with at least 2 years in a Level I trauma inpatient setting, including experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from anesthesia.
