Job Summary
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Specialty Nurse is based in a Level I Trauma Center, providing critical patient care during night shifts on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This role involves recovery and preoperative assessment of a diverse surgical patient population, requiring high acuity inpatient PACU and ICU experience.

Job Details

• Certifications: BLS, ACLS; 2 years of experience in high-acuity PACU or ICU required
• Education and Experience: RN license in good standing, minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience, including advanced cardiac and trauma care; minimum of 0 years of experience in the role
• Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
• Responsibilities include recovery of patients post-surgery, managing artificial airways, invasive monitoring (including ICP), transfusions, and vasoactive drugs.
• Surgical specialties include Neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant.
• Night nurses will be expected to work up preoperative patients from 0530-0730 when no patients are in the PACU.
• Required skills include: Epic, critical care experience, blood product administration, blood draws, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients, and dysrhythmia recognition/management.
• Willingness to float within scope to PACU or Preoperative units.
• Must pass Relias EKG exam.
• Open to first-time travelers and must meet license and compliance deadlines.
