Job Summary:
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse position in a Level I Trauma facility located in St. Louis, Missouri. This 12-week assignment offers a fast-paced environment where rapid patient turnover and high acuity care are required. The role involves managing preoperative and postoperative patients, with emphasis on maintaining proficiency in complex postoperative care practices.

Job Details:

• Shift: Day shift, with hours from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
• Schedule: 40 hours per week, approximately 10 hours per shift.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS); at least 1 year of PACU, critical care, or Level I Trauma Center experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
• Additional Information: Must pass Relias EKG exam, with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required. Candidates should have experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, blood draws, IV starts, and recovery from general anesthesia. This position requires a flexible, quick-turnover approach suitable for a high-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year in critical care or Level I Trauma Center PACU.
• On-call Requirement: 24 hours of call per 6-week scheduling period.
• Patient Population: Adults receiving preoperative, Phase I, and Phase II care, primarily same-day surgery patients.
• Orientation: Orientation hours are provided; candidates should wear scrubs.
• Licensing: Pending license acceptance; license required in Missouri or a compact state.
• Travel and Parking: No local candidates accepted within 75 miles; parking arrangements available upon orientation, with fee options depending on shift schedule.
• Additional Requirements: Must pass Relias EKG exam, and complete required modules within specified timelines.
• Special Equipment and Skills: Proficiency in EKG rhythm analysis, transfusions, blood drawing, IV starts, ventilator management, and postoperative recovery.
