Job Summary:
The organization is seeking an Interventional Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurse in Redding, California. This role involves providing specialized care for patients with acute cardiovascular conditions, including those with recent open-heart surgeries and mixed ICU patient populations. The position requires adapting to a fast-paced environment with a focus on critical care and advanced cardiac monitoring.
Job Details:
- Position: ICU Cardiovascular Nurse in Redding, California
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, scheduled every other weekend, with schedules made out approximately six weeks in advance. Self-scheduling is available, subject to managerial approval.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications including ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS; willingness to wait for license submission. Two years of recent ICU experience, specifically with fresh open-heart surgical patients and mixed ICU patient populations. Candidates must have experience with electronic medical records using Cerner, with a commitment to unit-specific orientation lasting one day.
- Preferred Qualifications: Additional certifications or experience are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Additional Information:
- Unit notes: Telemetry, laboratory, emergency, and critical care patients are managed in this unit. Candidates will undergo a proctored dysrhythmia test onsite on their first day, which is pass/fail.
- Bed capacity: 30 beds.
- Staffing: Charge nurses available; nurses do not take patient assignments.
- Additional equipment and team details: GE monitors, vents; hospitalist or intensivist present 24/7; RT and pharmacy available around the clock; no RT team in place.
- The hospital can cancel up to four shifts within a 13-week assignment.
- Float requirements: Nurses may float to tele or med-surg units.
- Floor-specific orientation: One day of unit orientation.
- The role involves caring for trauma level 2 patients in an acute care setting.
