Description
Job Summary:
The healthcare professional will provide patient care within an acute care setting specializing in Step Down Unit services in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This role involves managing neuro step-down and progressive patients, with responsibilities including drip titration for experienced nurses and collaborating with a team to deliver high-quality care during night shifts.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Indiana (IN) or Compact licensed registered nurse (RN), BLS certification, ACLS certification, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (may be obtained before start), minimum of 2 years of previous neuro experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Step Down Unit.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience managing neuro patients, drip titration experience, familiarity with electronic medical records such as EPIC, and proficiency with equipment including Philips bedside monitors and defibrillators.
- Schedule: Night shifts with three weekend shifts every four weeks. Floating to similar units such as Medical-Surgical when required, maintaining a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio when floated.
- Additional Information: Travelers will attend the Jumpstart program and EPIC training, followed by 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation. The unit operates with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 3-4:1 on progressive care and 4-5:1 on medical-surgical floors. Dress code is Caribbean blue scrubs, and charting is completed using EPIC.
