Description

Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Units in Omaha, Nebraska. This position involves providing care for adult and geriatric patients with conditions such as cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, and diabetes. The RN will work on a fast-paced unit, delivering quality patient care with a focus on communication, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 48 hours per week. The assignment begins on 08/31/2026.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice as a registered nurse, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS certification, a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in step down or telemetry units preferred.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units.
  • Additional Information:
    • Department: Progressive Care Unit
    • Bed capacity: 35 beds
    • Nurse to patient ratios: 1:4-5, 1:10 or 2:20 on the floor
    • Patient diagnoses include cardiac, nephrology, strokes, DM, continuous EEG monitoring
    • Responsible for titratable drips such as Cardizem, betablockers, seizure medications
    • Charge nurse on each shift, who may take an assignment
    • First week includes onboarding and 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation
    • Attributes for success include a positive attitude, good communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
    • RTO (Request for Time Off) needed upfront for 7 or fewer days within the 13-week contract.
    • No full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with the organization, including facilities affiliated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity.
    • Nail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited for staff providing patient care.
    • Pass/fail exam during orientation with an 90% passing criterion.
    • Charting system: EPIC
