Description
Job Summary:
This opportunity is for an ICU (Intensive Care Unit) registered nurse in a healthcare facility located in Kearney, Nebraska. The role involves providing specialized patient care in a 12-hour night shift setting, managing critically ill adult patients with a variety of diagnoses including trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. The position entails collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and adherence to hospital protocols.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, averaging 48 hours per week.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) are required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant ICU experience.
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN (Registered Nurse) license, Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) preferred, at least 2 years of ICU experience, current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, and a valid driver's license.
- Additional Information:
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2-3 for adults.
- Staff will be responsible for titrating cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation as needed.
- Nursing staff will assist with equipment troubleshooting related to ventilators and oxygen devices such as nasal cannulas, vent, Cpap, BiPap, and High Flow systems.
- Self-scheduling is permitted for core staff but not guaranteed for block scheduling; travelers may be added to the schedule.
- Monitors are GE brand, and staff are required to read and interpret strips.
- Floating to PCU and occasionally Medical-Surgical units may be required, with patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on these units.
- Weekend work is required every other weekend, with a minimum of two holidays falling within the contract period.
- Orientation consists of one day of unit-specific training.
- Prior notice of RTO (Request for Time Off) is limited to 7 days or less before the start of the contract.
- Up to four shifts per 13-week assignment may be canceled by the hospital.
- The charting system used is EPIC.
- No BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree is required but may be preferred.
