Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) positions available in the region. These opportunities involve providing specialized care for adult patients with complex needs including cardiac, respiratory, renal, and post-procedural conditions. The role requires delivering patient-centered care while maintaining adherence to clinical protocols within a fast-paced acute care environment.

Job Details:

• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 48 hours per week
• Start Date: 09/14/2026
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), 2 years' experience as an RN, competency in arterial lines, ability to interpret telemetry strips, and proficiency in managing titratable and set rate drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Patient Population: Adults with diagnoses including cardiac med/surgical, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure
• Unit Specifics: 40 beds with an average census of 24, patient-to-nurse ratio 1:4-5, common use of vascular access including arterial lines, high flow oxygen therapy, and monitoring equipment such as vents, Cpap, BiPap, and bladder scan
• Staffing Details: Charge nurses on every shift who may take assignments, patient care techs with ratios of 1:12, and float requirements to Medical-Surgical or ICU for acuity coverage
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
• Orientation: One-day unit-specific training
• Additional Notes: Overhead lifts, vein finders, portable lifts, focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, medication communication, and teamwork. Flexibility, adaptability, and good communication skills are critical. Bilingual skills in Hispanic and Somali populations are preferred.
• Scheduling & Holidays: Every other holiday required, RTO needed upfront (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract), hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per assignment.
• Other Details: Charting system: EPIC, no BSN required, licensure to submit, trauma level 2, acute care setting, shift notes specify 12-hour night shifts, and minimum experience of 2 years required.
