Job Summary
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse Houston, TX. This role involves providing specialized care to critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced unit. The position requires a dedicated healthcare professional skilled in pediatric critical care, ready to deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing services.

Job Details

  • Location: Houston, TX
  • Schedule: Nights shift (12 hours) with a minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/17/2026
  • Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Unit Information:
    • Number of beds: 14-22
    • Type of staff: Day shift nurses and night shift nurses, unit secretary, with a preference for nurses without a cortical neuro critical care (cnc) skills
    • Patient ratios: Med/Surg 4:1
    • Equipment used: Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Meditech
  • Typical procedures performed: Cleft palate repair, appendectomy, chest tube management, lumbar punctures, seizure management, noninvasive cardiology, thoracic cases such as thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, pectus bar implants
  • Supportive Personality Traits: Supportive and collaborative, fostering a full team environment where everyone assists each other
  • Floating Areas: NICU level 1 or 2 only
  • Dress Code: Royal blue scrub attire
  • Unit Policies and Guidelines: Please refer to attached policies and guidelines for further details
  • Schedule and Commitments: Four weekend days every four weeks; no on-call required
  • Number of Positions: 1
