Description

Job Summary:
The healthcare professional specializing in Newborn Nursery in Salem, Virginia, will provide compassionate care in a facility with a dedicated maternity care center. This position involves supporting both postpartum and neonatal patient needs, working within a unit equipped for labor, delivery, and nursery care. The role requires a proactive and energetic individual prepared to work day shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

Location: Salem, Virginia
Shift: Days, 12 hours per shift
Schedule: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; weekends are Saturday/Sunday for days, Friday/Saturday for nights; no call requirement for travel staff but opportunities for additional shifts may exist
Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
Start Date: 08/24/2026
Required Qualifications: Certifications/BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN; OB experience; no minimum years of experience required
Preferred Qualifications: Cesarean section circulator, first assist, scrub nurse; experience with labor & delivery, cesarean sections, post-partum, newborn care, OBED triage, inductions, and midwives
Additional Information: The unit features 9 labor, delivery, recovery rooms; 8 postpartum areas; 2 operating room suites; and a wellborn nursery with 23 beds. Staffing includes day shift director and manager, and night shift clinical coordinator or charge nurse. Patient ratios are 3 couples per nurse with a 1:1 active labor, Pitocin, and epidural support. The unit is equipped with Corometrics monitors and manages electronic medical records with Centricity Perinatal and Meditech systems.
