Job Summary:
Certified First Surgical Assistant position located in Salem, Virginia. This role involves providing specialized surgical support in a busy operating room environment, with a focus on orthopedic, neuro, and trauma procedures. Candidates must be proficient in DaVinci surgical systems and have experience supporting complex surgeries such as craniotomies, spine fusions, liver resections, Whipple procedures, and MAKO total joint surgeries. The position requires working 10-hour day shifts with a minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 09/07/2026.

Job Details:

• Ultilizes a 10-hour shift schedule, with rotation including weeknight and weekend call responsibilities.
• Certifications and licensing: Licensed First Assistant (FA) with the Board of Medicine in Virginia.
• Education and experience: No minimum experience specified; must be proficient in orthopedic, DaVinci system, and neuro support.
• Setting: Surgical unit with 10 beds, staffed with one circulator and one scrub technician per room.
• Procedures performed include craniotomy, spine fusion, liver resection, Whipple, and MAKO total joint surgeries.
• Documentation system: Meditech.
• Dress code: Scrubs provided.
• No floating policy.
• Additional unit-specific policies and guidelines should be reviewed properly.
• Candidates with advanced skills in trauma, orthopedics, and neuro procedures are preferred.
