Job Summary
The organization is seeking a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a facility located in Springfield, Illinois. This position involves providing care on a medical surgical floor, with a focus on patient-centered treatment and operational excellence. The role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a reputable acute care hospital.
Job Details
- Position / Specialty: Medical Surgical Floor RN
- Shift: 12-hour nights (1845-0715)
- Schedule: Nights, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Two years of experience as a Medical Surgical RN, active Illinois license, BLS certification, experience with PICC line management and starting IVs, and flexibility to manage patient ratios up to 1:7 if needed.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner charting system, knowledge of wound care including Wound Vac, and managing tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients (willingness to learn).
- Certifications: BLS required.
- Additional Information: Must handle dressing changes, drain removals, nasogastric tube insertions, intravenous placements, suctioning of tracheostomy/laryngectomy patients, and patient care for special procedures. Experience with blood product administration, wound care, and managing various patient equipment and devices is preferred. Floating within scope is required; travel experience is not required.
- Start Date: 08/31/2026
- Orientation: Virtual at-home orientation day with completion of required modules by 4:00 PM CST on Day 1.
- RTO Restrictions: Manager will review and approve requests; only one winter holiday off allowed.
- Other Requirements: Willingness to handle trach and laryngectomy patients, take up to 1:7 patient ratio if needed, and work every other weekend. Local candidates in Illinois are accepted; OR RN candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
- Facility Details: Acute care hospital with 562 beds, Level I trauma center, Magnet designation, parking permit provided at no cost, and Cerner charting system in use.
