Description
Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor (MS) in Fargo, North Dakota, is seeking a qualified nurse to provide care primarily to adult patients on a 32-bed medical-surgical unit. The role involves performing head-to-toe and focused assessments, administering medications, communicating with interdisciplinary teams, updating patients and families on care plans, advocating for patients, and documenting all nursing activities. The position offers 12-hour day shifts with rotation every other weekend and holiday, with flexible scheduling based on unit needs across a busy level 1 trauma center.
Job Details:
- Shift: 12-hour days, with every other weekend and every other holiday. Shift schedules are flexible and may cycle through days or nights depending on unit requirements.
- Required Qualifications: Active American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, registered nurse (RN) license or compact license, at least 2 years of recent bedside nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 250+ beds, experience in a busy level 1 trauma center, proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system, and willingness to float to other units as needed.
- Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of bedside nursing experience in a comparable hospital setting, experience with OmniCell, Philips Care Monitors, glucometers, bladder scanners, Language Line, Zebra phones, and a thorough understanding of various disease processes.
- Clinical Responsibilities: Providing comprehensive patient assessments, medication administration, interdisciplinary communication, patient advocacy, and detailed documentation in a fast-paced environment.
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend and holiday, with potential for different cycle patterns based on unit needs.
- Additional Information: Unit training includes an 8-hour classroom session at the LEAD Center followed by 24 hours of hands-on unit training. All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility. The unit utilizes equipment such as EPIC, OmniCell, Philips Care Monitors, glucometers, bladder scanners, Language Line, and Zebra phones.
