Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Units is needed for a facility located in Bridgeport, West Virginia. This role involves providing high-acuity patient care in a 36-bed step-down unit with a focus on cardiac, post-operative lung surgeries, respiratory failure, and other complex conditions. The position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment requiring clinical expertise in cardiac telemetry and step-down nursing.

Job Details:

• Location: Bridgeport, WV
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association); minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience in a similar setting.
• Unit Details: 36 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5 depending on acuity; private rooms and specific diagnoses include cardiac conditions, post-cath procedures, AMI, post-op lung surgeries, respiratory failure, and pacemaker management.
• Skills & Experience: Must be proficient in managing titratable drips such as heparin, insulin, nitro, and other cardiac medications, with the ability to titrate drips as necessary. Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac strips on Phillips monitors is required.
• Float & Coverage: Charge nurses are available 24/7, and the unit utilizes CNA and PCT staff for patient care, typically with a ratio of one CNA per nine patients.
• Respiratory Equipment: RTs manage CPAP and BiPap; nurses are expected to understand respiratory equipment but do not necessarily manage vents or trachs.
• Scheduling & Requirements: Every other weekend work is expected, with holiday rotation included. Shifts are scheduled 4 to 6 weeks in advance, and staff may float to other medical-surgical or telemetry units as needed.
• Additional Notes: Candidates must submit a copy of a valid driver's license. This facility is a level 2 trauma setting emphasizing rapid response and complex patient care.
