Job Summary:
Telemetry Nurse, Peoria, Illinois This telemetry nursing position involves providing specialized care to patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring in an acute care setting. The role encompasses managing patients with various cardiac conditions, interpreting telemetry strips, and performing appropriate nursing interventions during night shifts.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) licensure or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; BLS certification (AHA); minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; experience with EKG interpretation and medication titration; basic nursing skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: ACLS certification.
- Department: Cardio Thoracic, telemetry unit with 70 beds.
- Patient Ratios: Nights 1:5-6; PCTs 10-12 per shift.
- Common Patient Conditions: MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, esophagectomy, general medical overflow.
- Equipment & Responsibilities: RNs required to troubleshoot Cpap, Bipap, and high-flow oxygen; read and interpret telemetry strips (Phillips monitors); titrate drips, primarily Cardizem and heparin.
- Shift & Scheduling: Night shifts from 1900-0730; weekends every other shift; holiday rotation including Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day; occasional float to other general medical units.
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs, avoiding children/cartoon prints.
- Orientation: Typically one shift or part of one, depending on prior experience at an OSF facility.
- Start Date: 08/31/2026.
- Additional Requirements: Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation of application; last four digits of SSN; department-specific onboarding.
