Description

Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in Martinsburg, West Virginia. This position involves providing specialized perioperative care in a busy surgical environment, with a focus on various surgical specialties including neuro spine, orthopedic, vascular, pediatric, trauma, and emergent cases. The role requires collaboration within a dynamic team and adherence to standard surgical protocols.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, primarily evenings, with varied start times including 7:00 AM to 11:30 PM, and weekend call rotations. Minimum hours per week are 36.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice, minimum 2 years of experience in the operating room specialty, and prior travel experience in the same specialty for 2-3 assignments. Must have experience passing the arms in and out for robotics procedures. Must be proficient with the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system EPIC. Certifications required include BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (American Heart Association).
  • Preferred Qualifications: PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification is preferred but not required.
  • Additional Information: Scrubbing on cases is required for registered nurses. Float to outpatient surgery may be necessary. Orientation includes three shifts over one week. Shift rotations include charge nurse duties and circulating cases. The unit operates with minimal support staff, with techs responsible for room turnover. FMF and nights full experience across service lines is beneficial.
  • Experience or "Must Have" Skills: 2-3 years of operating room experience, with specific expertise in orthopedic procedures, robotics, and EPIC EMR system. Candidates should have prior travel experience in similar settings and be comfortable with various shift schedules including nights and on-call responsibilities.
  • Additional Notes: Position begins on 08/31/2026. The role involves working in a fast-paced surgical environment with minimal ancillary support. The department is mostly staffed with travel nurses and OR techs.
