Job Summary:
Emergency Room Nurse in Spokane Valley, Washington. This position involves providing care to a diverse patient population with a variety of acuity levels, including geriatric, pediatric, and adult patients presenting with conditions such as stroke, chest pain, abdominal pain, and respiratory issues. The role requires collaboration within a team to deliver high-quality emergency care in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Location: Spokane Valley, WA
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with a weekly minimum of 36 hours. Typical shifts include days, evenings, or nights based on unit needs, with a 6-week cycle.
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or MOAB. Two years of experience in emergency care or a related specialty preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Three or more years of emergency room experience, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification, and strong skills in conscious sedation, chest tube management, and central line placement.
- Support on the Unit: ER techs are all phlebotomy certified, capable of peripheral sticks; department staff include nurses and techs working 24/7; there is a designated charge nurse round-the-clock; resource nurses and critical care floats available; and a phlebotomy team trained in US-guided IV insertion.
- Technology/Equipment: Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system EPIC is used; IV pumps and medication dispensing via Pyxis; bedside and station telemetry monitoring.
- Orientation: One-week comprehensive training, including EPIC system training, skills check-offs, and precepted shifts.
- Shift Times: 7a-7p, 7a-3p, 8a-4p, 9a-7p, with on-call and holiday expectations as specified.
- Additional Notes: Scrub color is flexible; parking is free; the facility does not have a cardiac catheterization laboratory, but interventional radiology services are available; emergency cardiac procedures are transferred to other facilities.
