Description
Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse in Pocatello, Idaho. This position involves providing specialized care on a 24-bed progressive care, stepdown, and telemetry floor that manages adult and geriatrics patients. The role offers an opportunity to work in a comprehensive stroke center with Level II Trauma and Chest Pain Accreditation, delivering complex care to patients with conditions such as stroke, heart failure, and respiratory failure.
Job Details:
- Shift: 3x12 hour Night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid state or compact license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications, 1 year of clinical experience, adept in blood product administration, central line care/management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, use of PPE, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care, and experienced with Epic charting system
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a similar PCU or stepdown setting, trauma or stroke care experience
- Float: Possible float rotation required
- Additional Information: The facility features interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams. Daily census averages 23 patients with a patient-to-staff ratio of 1:4. The unit cares for patients with diagnoses such as heart failure, stroke, sepsis, diabetes, and renal failure. Special procedures include emergent cardioversion and central line placement, with equipment like BIPAP/CPAP and HF equipment.
- Scheduling & Support: Block scheduling with 4 patients per shift during nights, 6 weekend shifts per contract, orientation includes 24 hours of onsite training, completed within 48 hours of contract start.
- Travel & Compliance Rules: 100-mile radius rule; state or compact license must be in hand at time of submittal; all RTO must be listed upfront; staff must wait 1 year before returning as travelers.
