Job Summary
Step Down Unit Nurse - Galesburg, Illinois. This position involves providing patient care on a specialized step down unit within an acute care healthcare facility. The role requires delivering high-quality nursing services during night shifts, with a focus on managing patients with conditions such as CHF, COVID pneumonia, Afib with RVR, and other similar diagnoses.

Job Details

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with shifts starting on 08/31/2026.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois registered nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; CPR certification (BLS, AHA); ACLS certification (AHA); minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; compliance with department-specific requirements.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in step down or telemetry units; familiarity with EPIC electronic charting system.
• Float: Travelers are expected to float; floating may involve taking ratios of 1:5 on the assigned unit.
• Additional Information: The assignment includes local policies such as a call-off policy of 12 hours every 13 weeks, no vents on unit, and a hospitalist or intensivist in house from 7 am to 5 pm with an in-house advanced practice provider (APN). Orientation includes one hospital shift and two unit shifts (one day and one night). No scrub color required; staff may wear own scrubs.
