Description
Job Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse position located in Nebraska. This role involves providing specialized care for premature and critically ill newborns in a Level II NICU setting. The position requires managing infants from early gestation through delivery, working closely with a multidisciplinary team including neonatologists and nurse practitioners.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, 12 hours shift from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Nebraska RN license, BLS Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), minimum of 2 years of neonatal intensive care experience, ability to serve as charge RN in a Level II NICU.
- Responsibilities: Providing care for infants with diagnoses including early gestation and managing complex respiratory equipment such as bubble CPAP and ventilators. Competent in running and titrating drips (fluids, TPN, blood products). Able to perform newborn assessments at delivery, including babies delivered via cesarean section.
- Schedule and Rotations: Working every third weekend and rotating holidays. May be required to assist with call or standby duties depending on patient volume.
- Float: May occasionally float to postpartum units when NICU is closed.
- Additional Notes: Must have experience in neonatal critical care, comfortable with delivery room procedures, and capable of managing multiple devices including vents, CPAP, BiPAP. The unit has in-house neonatologists and nurse practitioners available 24/7, with no nurse aides on the unit.
- Certifications: BLS and NRP are required.
- Other Considerations: Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments. Orientation and unit competency are provided. All RN readers monitor strips on the unit using EPIC charting system.
