Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor Nurse in a healthcare facility near the city. This role involves providing specialized patient care for individuals with orthopedic conditions, including hips, knees, shoulders, and spine. The position requires experienced nurses comfortable with night shifts, unit protocols, and team collaboration.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with every other weekend, and at least 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications include BLS; a minimum of 2 years of experience in the specialty, travel experience preferred. No BSN required; licensed to submit.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Cerner electronic charting system; ability to interpret dysrhythmias; team player with flexibility to float to telemetry units; prior orthopedic surgical nursing experience.
• Float: Float rotation may be required, including to telemetry units.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit: Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor with 17 beds
  • Bed capacity: 17 beds
  • Bed ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Charge Nurse: Clinical supervisor (no patient assignment, break relief coverage)
  • Nurse aides: 1 nurse aide for 8 hours of day shift
  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
  • Holidays: Will work into perm staff rotation
  • Scrub color: navy
  • Telemetry: Portable tele box; nurses must interpret monitor strips and take dysrhythmia exam
  • Vents, ICU, and hospitalist services: No vents; hospitalist on 24/7 basis
  • Pharmacy: 24/7 available
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • Orientation: One shift of unit-specific orientation
  • Common diagnoses: Hips, knees, shoulders, spine surgeries
  • Additional notes: Candidates must have 2-3 years of experience in the specialty, include travel experience, and be team players.
  • Cancellation policy: Up to 4 shifts may be canceled within a 13-week assignment.
