Description
Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse specializing in trauma care is needed at a healthcare organization. The role involves providing acute patient care in a busy ER setting with approximately 65 patients treated daily. The position requires quick decision-making, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and adherence to clinical protocols in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts with start times including 6:30 AM, 8:30 AM, 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 2:30 PM, and 6:30 PM. Self-scheduling and block scheduling options available. Minimum hours per week: 36.
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license or confirmation that an application process has been initiated, BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), PALS (American Heart Association) certifications, and at least 2 years of ER experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: TNCC certification is highly preferred.
- Float: Float rotation may be required if mutually agreed upon at hire.
- Additional Information:
- Department features a separate triage area and a secure, safe ER room.
- In-house security available 24/7.
- Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4.
- Common diagnoses include sepsis, CHF, pneumonia, suicidal patients, and abdominal pain across all age groups.
- Staff includes ER physicians and mid-level providers with 24/7 staffing.
- Support staff includes nurse aides, EMTs, and paramedics, with specified shift coverage for procedures and patient care.
- Radiology services such as X-ray and CT are available on-site or nearby, with lab draws performed by RNs and technicians.
- Dress code is navy blue scrubs.
- The orientation consists of a 1-shift unit-specific training.
- The start date for this assignment is August 31, 2026, and it will conclude on November 30, 2026.
