Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Specialty - Location: Not specified. This position involves providing surgical support in a Level I trauma center with emergency and general surgical procedures. The role requires working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on trauma and specialized cases, ensuring quality patient care in the surgical setting.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 3x12 shifts from 10:45 AM to 11:15 PM, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: BLS certification required; active Illinois license in hand or in application process; minimum 2.5 years of OR experience; open to candidates with trauma, general, bariatric, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology case skills; Level I trauma experience required; Cerner experience preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: CNOR certification preferred.
  • Additional Information:
    • Will work with all service lines except cardiovascular.
    • On-call requirement: 1 week per month, with occasional shifts.
    • Candidate must have experience with laparoscopic assisted cases, general surgery procedures such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple procedure, cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion, arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, open and closed fracture reductions, free flap microvascular procedures, and organ donation.
    • Trauma and emergency management skills required, including code response and fire safety awareness.
    • Must be able to operate electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana tables.
    • Floating within scope may be required rarely, within skill set.
    • Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from facility, with an active Illinois license or application in progress.
    • Orientation includes 40 hours of pre-start modules to be completed within one week of contract signing, with first day conducted virtually at home.
