Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse MS Yukon region. This position involves providing direct patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse will coordinate care based on clinical standards, collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver quality, efficient, and patient-centered care. The role supports patients across all age groups, from birth to elderly, and emphasizes cultural competence and age-specific considerations in practice.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shifts, 8 hours per shift, with a minimum of 32 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Must have completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN-accredited institution. Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Must be licensed in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Alaska. Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Fetal Monitoring certification required. Minimum experience of 1-2 years in obstetrics is preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: National Certification in Obstetrics is preferred.
- Additional Information: The position involves delivering patient care in the obstetric setting with flexible work scheduling. The successful candidate will need to pass and maintain competency assessments for this role. All travelers are required to show proof of completed COVID-19 vaccinations. Orientation begins on a Tuesday, and initial hours may be less than guaranteed during the first week.
- Responsibilities: Utilize clinical standards and protocols such as those established by the Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN). Effectively communicate with patients, families, and team members. Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, educate patients and families, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Maintain comprehensive documentation of care provided.
