Description

Job Summary:
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Open Heart (PICU OH) registered nurse position located in Dallas, Texas. This role involves providing compassionate, skilled care for pediatric patients with congenital heart disease, including those post-operative and in critical condition. The position requires working night shifts with a schedule that includes rotating weekends, supporting a dedicated team caring for ICU and step-down level patients.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: 1 year of Pediatric Critical Care Unit (CICU) or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience as staff nurse; 3-4 contracts in a dedicated pediatric CICU; 2 years minimum PICU experience; experience with caring for patients with congenital heart disease and post-operative management; experience with arterial lines, central lines, transthoracic lines; certifications including PALS, BLS, ACLS
  • Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience; at least 1 year experience with neonatal cardiac patients pre-op and post-op; 2+ years Pediatric cardiac experience in step-down or cardiology floor
  • Additional Information: Unit cares for ICU and step-down patients with staffing based on census and acuity; typical procedures include central line and arterial line placement, conscious sedation, intubation, post-op recovery, sternal closures, codes, ECMO cannulation, CRRT, and manual PDB. The team uses Meditech electronic medical records and various clinical equipment, including IV pumps, beds, GE radiant warmers, and Somanetics NIRS machines.
  • Floats: Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Weekends and On-call: Rotating weekends (day shifts on Saturday and Sunday, night shifts on Friday and Saturday); no on-call responsibilities.
