Description

Job Summary:
The Post Partum Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in an outpatient postpartum unit. This role involves caring for women of childbearing age and newborns, with responsibilities including patient assessment, discharge education, pain management, and recognizing risk factors such as sepsis and venous thromboembolism. The schedule consists of 12-hour day shifts, with a minimum commitment of 36 hours per week, providing an opportunity to work within a specialized maternal and newborn care setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BLS certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; ability to recognize unit workflow, policies, and procedures within the postpartum unit; experience in patient assessment, discharge planning, and pain management.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Additional Information: The unit cares for patients in post-partum, labor, delivery, recovery, well-baby nursery, and attend births. Staffing includes Registered Nurses (RNs) without a unit secretary, with rare use of Patient Care Technicians (PCTs). Equipment includes vitals machines, glucometers, and post-partum supplies. Documentation is completed using CPN and Meditech systems. There are typically two hard-to-staff shifts on Monday and Friday, with a rotation involving one full weekend every three weeks plus an additional weekend. Float policies are within womens services unless cross-trained to pediatrics or neonatal intensive care.
