Job Title: Medical Surgical Floor Nurse Salem, VA

Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a qualified registered nurse for a Medical Surgical Floor position at a healthcare facility located in Salem, Virginia. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to post-operative orthopedic, spine surgical, and podiatry patients within a busy medical-surgical unit. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative team environment and deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Details:

• Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS certification, and 0 or more years of nursing experience. Additional certifications such as PALS are preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), ability to care for pediatric patients, and familiarity with post-operative orthopedic care.
• Unit Information:
  • Location: 6 East Orthopedics/Neuro/Pediatrics
  • Capacity: 30 beds with potential expansion to 36 beds
  • Staffing: 45 employees including clinical coordinators, registered nurses, technicians, and unit secretaries
  • Equipment: Baxter IV pumps, Medfusion pumps, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs)
  • EMR: Meditech
  • Typical procedures include post-operative orthopedic, spine, podiatry, and post-surgical patient care
• Personality Fit: Team player with a positive attitude and strong patient advocacy skills
• Dress Code: Navy Blue and White scrubs; no hoodies, pull-overs, or T-shirts
