Description
Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse in a facility setting. This role involves providing care to adult and adolescent patients with a variety of diagnoses, including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, dehydration, influenza, alcohol withdrawal, respiratory viruses, and postoperative surgical patients such as orthopedic, general surgery, spinal, and urology cases. The position requires flexibility to work rotating shifts in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on teamwork and proactive patient care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (AHA or ARC), CPI certification, at least 1 year of Medical Surgical (MS) experience, proficiency with EPIC documentation, experience with administering titratable and set rate drips (such as Heparin, Bumex, Lasix), and experience with shift reporting. Must be comfortable with first-time travel assignments and capable of managing a patient ratio of 1:6 during day shifts and 1:5-6 during nights.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with telemetry reading, ability to handle patient care equipment like Trachs, Cpap for OSA, Bipap, and High Flow oxygen devices, and experience working with adult and adolescent patients with diverse medical conditions.
- Float: May float to Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) for Medical Surgical assignments.
- Additional Information: Teamwork is essential, including assisting with call lights and bedside shift reports, as well as proactive patient rounding. Unit orientation consists of 1.5 shifts. Scrubs are navy blue and provided.
- Shift & Scheduling: No self-scheduling; blocked scheduling can be accommodated when possible.
- Weekend & Holiday Requirement: As needed.
- Call or Standby: Yes, on low census or canceled shifts.
- Charting System: EPIC.
- BSN Required: No.
- Start Date: 08/25/2026.
- End Date: 11/24/2026.
